Isopropyl Alcohol is a synthetically manufactured product. Isopropyl Alcohol 70 percent has a great dissolving power. Isopropyl alcohol is also called isopropanol or dimethyl carbinol, a compound with the chemical formula C3H8O or C3H7OH or CH3CHOHCH3 (sometimes represented as i-PrOH). Isopropyl alcohol has a wide variety of industrial and domestic uses. Due to the rapid evaporation and the good dissolving of grease, it has a wide range of applications:

• A commonly used household solvent, for example for cleaning spectacle lenses, car windows, racing bicycles, etc.

• Ideal for removing glue residues

Medical: Isopropyl alcohol is used as a water-drying device for the prevention of otitis externa, commonly known as swimmer's ear. Laboratory: Isopropyl alcohol is commonly used in DNA extraction. This is possible because DNA is insoluble in isopropyl alcohol.
